Tankerton F.C. Summer School

16-27 August 2021

We wanted to do something for the local community and, in particular, to help children in the area to stay active during the summer. We know it has been a hard 18 months for everyone but it has been an especially difficult time for children. There have also been financial pressures on many households and Tankerton FC have been thinking about what we could do to help. The children have missed so much due to this terrible pandemic and, as a registered charity, Tankerton FC want to give something back to you all.

We contacted Kent County Council/Canterbury Local Children’s Partnership Group and applied for funding from the Reconnect: Kent Children and Young People Programme to run a summer soccer school. We are delighted to announce that we have received funding from the Reconnect Project to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity to the local community. The Summer School will be free for those children who are currently eligible for free school meals and will be just £5 per day for other children.

We are lucky at Tankerton FC to have amazing coaches who have agreed to support the Summer School and to give their time to support the two weeks.

Tankerton Football Club is a registered charity and we would like to see ourselves as more than simply a football club. We feel it is important to support the community with initiatives like our Summer Soccer School, subsidised for children on free school meals and at a reduced price for all participants, in association with Kent County Council. We also aim to be an inclusive football club providing girls' and boys' youth teams from the age of 5 to all youth groups, men’s and women’s teams, veterans' and recreational deaf and pan-disability teams. Our work in all of this inevitably incurs costs, so to this end we are looking for any donations from local or national businesses to help the Club, especially in connection with providing new facilities.

Tankerton FC are running a crowdfunding campaign which gives those who donate a chance to win several rewards. We are also looking for local and national companies to help the club. Help us raise #funding to create 7 new pitches, enhance our nature reserve and secure a #new #home. Visit our crowdfunding page to donate http://crowdfunder.co.uk/tankertonfc

If you could help spread the word, that would be greatly appreciated, whether by simply sharing our social media posts, by donating yourself or by asking your employers if they are able to help.
