Fun Day 2019
Tankerton FC held its annual, end-of-season Fun Day at Seaview on Sunday 2nd June. Fortunately, the weather was fine and players and their families were able to enjoy a day in the sun.
Teams played fun matches, with the U13s teams playing each other for the Bailey Yanik memorial trophy. Each team then received their squad and individual trophies.
There were the usual attractions (speed-gun challenge, soak-the-coach, barrow of booze, barbecue, ice-cream van, hot and cold drinks, cakes and bouncy castles) and this year we welcomed Demelza and The Rotary Club of Whitstable who both had tents to enable them to publicise their charitable works.
Club Chairman, Andy Davidson welcomed everyone to the Fun Day before handing over to Dave McGovarin who presented the TFC Manager of the Season trophy to Jamie Clark. Jamie’s Under 10s team had enjoyed a very strong league season in Division 1 of the Faversham & District Youth Football League, culminating in them winning the F&DYFL Under 10s Cup in April.
Andy Davidson then presented the Chairman’s special award to Dean Gonsalves. As well as guiding the U15s Girls to great success over the past season, Dean has also been involved in coaching the Ladies’ team, plus being a member of the TFC Executive Committee and now taking on Club Secretary duties.
The Adam Bowey Shield was presented to Terry Whyte in recognition of his many years of voluntary work for the Club. Having been a coach for several years, Terry is now a Trustee, Club Secretary, groundsman at Seaview and is heavily involved in the development of the Club’s new ground.
Thanks, as always, go to the TFC Fundraising Committee and the coaches and parent volunteers who gave up their time to prepare everything for the day and to run the stalls etc. The day raised £1,200 towards Club funds. The Club would also like to thanks its many sponsors for their continued and hugely-appreciated support.
