TFC Invitational Tournament 2017
On Sunday, 3rd September 2017 the Club hosted an invitational tournament at Seaview for its Under 10, Under 11 and Under 16 age groups. This was the largest tournament the Club has ever held, so it was very much an experiment for all concerned. The success of the tournament means that we are hopeful we can extend the event to other age groups next year.
Under 16s
Tankerton U16s and Tankerton Colts U16s were joined by teams from Deal Town, Southbury, Hawkinge and Hawkinge Colts. Each team played every other team once in matches lasting 25 minutes, using the two 11-a-side pitches. Hawkinge Colts were the tournament winners, having won four of their five matches. Tankerton and Tankerton Colts finished third and fourth, respectively.
Under 11s
Tankerton U11s were joined by teams from Tyler Hill, Whitstable Town and two teams from Herne Bay Harriers. Herne Bay Harriers ‘A’ were the eventual champions, winning all four of their games. Tankerton finished as runners-up.
Under 10s
2 Tankerton U10s teams (Tankerton Vipers and Tankerton Colts) competed against teams from Woodnesborough, Sturry Kings, Herne Bay Harriers, Tyler Hill, Faversham Strike Force and Dawes Hernhill. Woodnesborough were the overall champions, beating Herne Bay Harriers in the final. It was an all Tankerton final in the Plate competition with Vipers beating Colts on penalties.
The tournament organisers worked hard setting everything up for the day; this involved putting out goals and nets the evening before and arriving at Seaview early on the Sunday morning to erect the gazebos, set up the barbecues and get everything in place before the first visitors started arriving at 9.30. Parent volunteers ran the barbecue, drinks stall and Speed-Gun Challenge attraction.
We would like to give a huge thank you to the following tournament sponsors for their continued support and generous contributions towards the Club funds:
